Covering an area of 128.94 hectares, this locality spans an elevation range from 1020 to 1780 meters above sea level and occupies the left valley side of the Duboka River(Duboka Reka). The Duboka River basin is encircled by ridges: Karaman (1917 m.a.s.l.), Pajino Preslo (1804 m.a.s.l.), Suvo Rudište (2017 m.a.s.l.), Bećirovac (1782 m.a.s.l.), and the peak Šiljak (1728 m.a.s.l.). The river’s source lies at 1800 meters above sea level beneath Karaman, where the river carves gorges. Due to the significant altitude variations within this part of the national park, different types of vegetation succeed one another: subalpine bilberry and spruce vegetation (Piceo subalpinae-Vaccinio-Juniperetum), subalpine spruce forest, subalpine beech forest, spruce-beech-fir forest, beech-fir forest, and pure beech forest (Fagetum montanum). In the upper reaches of the basin, the communities host an endemic species: the mountain maple.
