Covering an area of 82.05 hectares, this site extends between the riverbed (at 1350 m above sea level) and the watershed at Hajdučka Čuka (at 1600 m above sea level) in the western part of Kopaonik, on the right valley side of the Barska River. The terrain is characterized by numerous springs, a multitude of larger and smaller ponds, marshes, and wet depressions. The primary feature of this locality is the mosaic-like alternation of plant communities, which are determined by hydrological and orographic conditions. From the ridge of Grandmother’s Grave(Babin Grob) extending westward, forest communities alternate at short distances. A characteristic feature is the vertical succession of vegetation, from spruce forests (Piceetum excelsae), mixed beech and spruce forests, spruce, beech, and fir forests, to pure beech forests (Fagetum montanum), which interweave with mixed beech and fir forests. Two subassociations of this forest community are present: luzuletosum and festucetosum drymeiae.
