Spanning an area of 71.38 hectares on the left bank of the Samokovska River, this locality extends between the riverbed and the ridge of Visoki Deо, within an elevation range of 1520 to 1620 meters above sea level. The site features three ecologically distinct types of spruce forests. The communities include spruce with sorrel and mosses (Piceetum abietis subass. oxalidetosum) on the plateau of the ridge; subass. myrtilletosum on the steep southern slope; and hylocomietosum, characterized by a carpet of mosses on the northern side. In the peripheral areas of the peat bog, low spruce can be found on the sphagnum peat (Sphagno-Piceetum). On the sphagnum bog, a specific ecotype is represented by spruce with pale green needles, short branches, and a small open crown. The tallest and most vital spruce trees in this locality are situated on the plateau of the wide ridge. On the southern slope, spruces are sparse, with broad crowns, while on the northern slopes, closer to the Samokovska River, the spruces are also sparse, their crowns heavily laden with lichens.
