The Public Enterprise “National Park Kopaonik” has initiated a major spring clean-up operation to remove waste from areas where the snow has melted. This activity marks the beginning of a series of actions that are traditionally carried out almost daily throughout the spring. After the winter season on Kopaonik, we witness the accumulation of waste in areas not designated for waste disposal. Basic waste management activities are hindered due to the snow cover. Waste management on the territory of National Park Kopaonik is the responsibility of the municipal enterprises “Raška” and JKP “Rasina” Brus. The issue arises from the large number of careless visitors, leading to waste being found in the center, on ski slopes, and along roads. Hospitality facilities within the National Park Kopaonik, due to inadequate waste management systems, create smaller or larger illegal dumps that threaten the park’s environment. National Park Kopaonik conducts clean-up activities to reduce pollution in the park and to prepare the area for the upcoming summer season. We appeal to all visitors and users of the park to dispose of waste in designated areas. Otherwise, National Park Kopaonik will enforce the provisions of the Law on National Parks and the Rules on Internal Order and Ranger Services.
