On the occasion of European Parks Day, celebrated on May 24, the staff of the Public Enterprise “National Park Kopaonik” has installed warning signs at wildlife crossings. The construction of roadways has fragmented the habitats of species living in this area, leading to frequent encounters between wildlife and humans. The purpose of these warning signs is to draw attention to wild species on the roads, reduce the number of traffic accidents, and ensure the safety of all road users. Each sign features an image and the name of the respective species, along with a QR code. Scanning the QR code provides information about the species’ taxonomy and ecology. The signs for wild species have been placed along all three main routes leading to the center of Kopaonik and are located within the national park.
