On April 1, 2019, a fire broke out in the Kopaonik National Park area within the management unit of Brzećka River(Brzećka Reka), specifically in compartment 95. The fire spread through the open area, affecting low vegetation and shrubs. Thanks to the quick intervention of the park’s rangers and local residents, the fire was contained and prevented from spreading to nearby coniferous stands. The fire was localized by 7:00 PM, and the park’s emergency service remained on-site until the early morning hours. The Public Enterprise Kopaonik National Park extends its special gratitude to the local residents, particularly Dragiša Dobrodolac, who assisted with his machinery. Legal proceedings will be initiated against those responsible for the incident.
