Kopaonik is undoubtedly one of the most floristically and vegetationally diverse and rich mountains in the central Balkans. Research has determined that over 1,500 different plant species live and grow in Kopaonik, indicating that it is one of the most significant centers of floristic and vegetation diversity, not only in Serbia but also throughout the Balkans.
