Forestry is a significant sector in environmental protection. The forests in Kopaonik cover an area of 7,427.24 hectares, with 7,077.02 hectares in the public sector and 350.22 hectares in the private sector. The management of these forests is overseen by the Public Enterprise National Park Kopaonik, which is responsible for the management units: Gobeljska River(Gobeljska Reka), Samokovska River(Samokovska Reka), Barska River(Barska Reka), and Brze\u0107ka River(Brze\u0107ka Reka).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The forest inventory of the national park is predominantly composed of spruce (58%), beech (33%), and fir (8%), with other woody species making up 1%. In terms of origin, high forests dominate (96.58%), which are nearly fully preserved, while coppice forests (3.42%) have degraded by nearly one-third. The composition is primarily characterized by pure stands (86.7%) compared to mixed stands (13.3%). Private forests in the area are found in small parcels along the park’s perimeter (within the third degree of protection), with an average timber volume of 279.46 m\u00b3\/ha and an average annual increment of 5.58 m3\/ha. In these forests, the dominant management classes are beech (64.7%), spruce (18.57%), and spruce-beech (8.51%).<\/p>\n<\/div>
